Dennis R. Pape, Managing Director.  Dennis has over 25 years of experience with high technology companies from research scientist to manager to startup founder and most recently, venture advisor to entrepreneurs, corporations, and investors.  Dennis began his career as a scientist at Texas Instruments where he developed an interest in the business of technology.  He became a manager at Harris Corproation and later founded an optics firm, Photonic Systems Incorporated (PSI).  He joined Milcom Technologies in the late 90's where he evaluated new optical, semiconductor, communication and medical device technologies to assess their maturity and competitive advantage, developed new venture business and investor plans, and directed early stage technical and engineering product development.  Most recently Dennis has served as the managing director of AlphaLaunch, a business services firm he founded in 2002.  While at AlphaLaunch, Dennis has provided technical leadership and business planning to startups and due diligence to numerous venture clients.  Dennis served as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at the University of Central Florida Technology Incubator.  Dennis earned an A.B. in Physics from Cornell University and a Ph.D. in Physics from Duke University.

William Grimm, Advisory Board Chairman.  Bill Grimm practiced as a securities lawyer for 35 years, most recently as a senior partner in the GrayRobinson law firm where he is now of-counsel.  He is currently Professor of Practice in Entrepreneurship and Negotiation at the Crummer Business School at Rollins College.  Bill’s law practice focused on technology companies and the unique problems they face.  His engineering background assisted him in becoming general counsel to many high technology companies in the Central Florida area, including several publicly held companies.  He has handled numerous mergers and acquisitions as well as venture capital transactions for high technology and other companies and is a well-known speaker in Central Florida at seminars on venture capital financing and initial public offerings.  Additionally, he has been instrumental in assisting companies in going public and has been a member of the boards of directors of several high technology companies.  Bill has a B.S. in Engineering from Pennsylvania State University and earned a JD with honors from Stetson University College of Law.

Screening Committee.  The Fund managing director and committee members are responsible for screening a prospective portfolio company’s executive summary to determine whether the company meets the Fund’s investment criteria and targets.  A positive review results in the company submitting a full business plan for due diligence review.

Due Diligence Committee.  The Fund managing director and each Fund due diligence committee is responsible for conducting extensive due diligence on a prospective portfolio company to determine whether the company meets the Fund’s investment target and risk profile.   A positive review results in the company being invited to present to the next monthly fund meeting.

Investment Committee.  The Fund managing director and the Fund investment committee are responsible for negotiating the terms and closing the investment with the portfolio company.  The investment committee's objective is to close within 60 days post submission by the company.
